Hotel is very stylish with great decor. Location is right in the centre of Reykjavik. Breakfast is very good for included in the price.
We stayed in a deluxe room and it was very small - I would hate to think what a standard was like but we didnt spend much time in the room so it wasnt so bad. The mini bar fridge and the hair dryer didnt work, when we explained to reception about the mini bar they said yes most of them dont.
Charming staff, fantastic design, great location, good value for money
the hotel had a great location, some very helpful staff, who were happy to help sorting out excursions etc for us. Nice bar with happy hour. Also the bathroom had an awesome shower!
Due to its central location it is plagued by noise pollution from nearby clubs. Absolutely accept that some noise follow such a great location however, it was so that we could not sleep the first night (2nd night we decided to join the noise) they are clearly aware of it and handed us ear plugs as soon as I said something. It would be great if the earplugs were in the room to start with, and maybe some upfront admittance of this issue, such as on the Booked.net description pages! Generally we found the hotel facilities and breakfast a bit too basic for a 4 star category.
Most of the staff was friendly and very keen to assist in the scheduling of daily activities and general information. The location was excellent, right in the shopping center of Reykjavik and everything was within 5-10min walk. Wireless internet always reliable and fast.
The room was never fully serviced; mini bar never filled, bathroom amenities never replaced. Breakfast had very limited selection. The rooms looking inside were very noisy from hotel`s vents and there was absolutely no view. The room was definitely not worth its value for a deluxe double.
David at the front desk was incredibly helpful - one of the best front desk, hard working, employees we have ever met.
we got upgraded to a suite which was nice, but it didn't have a tub which we had wanted. Also, the 50 E charge for early arrival seems too expensive and unfair since the room would be unused if we didn't arrive early.
I really liked the design and location. Wonderful modern interiors with interesting lighting. And the location is great, Thingholt is actually located pretty close to everything: Laugavegur, Hallgrimskirkja, Tjornin lake
False fire alarm at 6 am awakening everybody:)
The location was great, and the design was really modern and fun.
The hotel internet did not work. Calls to front desk staff did not resolve this issue.
Closeness to shops & facilities
Too ultra-modern for our taste
Very nice designer interior. Hotel felt like an oasis of calm in the middle of town. Location was great.
Housekeeping was patchy. Internet in reception often not working.
The design of the rooms was very nice, and the views from the room were fantastic. Even though we have a reservation for a standard room They upgraded us to a suite. Staff were very kind.
It was very central, there were few hotels that were better placed
The hotel tried to be trendy and stylish and in succeeded in some ways, but some of their efforts were silly. As you enter the hotel, in a very narrow hall, there is a stream (yes a stream of water), our suticases nearly fell in. Worst of all, the room was quite small, but most of the space was taken up by a giant free standing bath right next to the bed. The location was very seedy and very noisy all night with drunks (until about 7 am). While waiting for a tour bus at 8am we were offered drugs! Do not bring your kids!
We liked a lot the hotel modern design and furniture, the comfort and location. Breakfast was very good. Wifi and free internet point in the hall.
We had a room on the fourth floor (mansard) which was really nice, but the space in the bathroom was more limited than the one in the other rooms (where our friends were). That means no shelves and a smaller shower box. The design was the same, anyway.
nice design, nice people at the reception desk, good location to "old"reykjavik and harbour, good pick-up place for tours
in fact, since there is no airco, the room was too hot (top floor) during this summer 2010
Centrally located and easy access to shops & reatraunt
Room decor excellent and comfortable. nice shower and good size bathroom
Noise outside hotel due to all night partying. breakfast was good but no variance in menu and some times the eggs and sausage and bacon was cold. mini refrigerator did not work and staff said nothing could be done about it as the hotel was full therefore they couldnot tranfer a working one to us. the curtain that blocks out the daylight (24 hrs) rod was broken and not fixed during our stay. but it was a great place to stay
